Marriage License Application Requirements

1. MUST BRING (1) WITNESS OVER 18 YRS. OLD THAT KNOW BOTH PARTIES AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION. THE WITNESS MUST BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND AND SPEAK ENGLISH.

2. Social Security cards for both persons are required.

3. Birth Certificates for both persons are required (if not in English, must be translated.

4. A couple may apply in the municipality (city, town) in which either person resides. Present ID (drivers license, county ID, current PSE&G bill or telephone bill) showing proof of residence.

5. Divorced persons must present a copy of the FINAL DECREE when making application for marriage (if not in English, must be translated).

6. If widow or widowers, must present proof of death of spouse (death certificate, if not in English, must be translated)

7. Applicants must know date of ceremony and where the ceremony will take place. Also needed is address, telephone number of officiate at the time of application.

8. There is a 72 hour (3) day waiting period before marriage license can be issued.

IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT YOU APPLY FOR YOUR MARRIAGE LICENSE TWO WEEKS BEFORE THE DATE OF MARRIAGE.

**Once the license is issued, the marriage license is valid for thirty (30) days. The ceremony must take place within that time period.**

Marriage License fee-$28.00 Exact change is required at the time of application. We accept cash, money order or certified check.
